This week we learned about "Alternative Assessment" esp. about rubrics. I usually find rubrics a fair alternative to assess my students' work. I'd like to share with you a rubric I use for multimedia projects. I started using this rubric las year. It took some time to created by it worked really fine and that's why I continue using it. It takes into account all the phase of the multimedia project: Planning, Design, Developments, Technical Aspects and presentation.
Context:
Creating a multimedia project involves careful planning
esp. if you have to use mobile devices such as webcams, mobile phones
and netbooks. In this opportunity, future student teachers worked
collaboratively in order to create short video clips to be used with EFL
learners. They created a story start to trigger the writing of a
spooky story; three story endings to inspire learners to write a story
that matches one of them and an adaptation of a children's book for very
young learners to work with a story. They were divided into three groups
and used Ivers and Barron (2002) model based on 3D and an E (decide,
design, develop and evaluate) to plan their project.
Hope you also find useful!

Hi Maria Laura,
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you about Rubrics being a fair way of assessment. It’s been my great discovery of this week, particularly because my students are expected to give oral presentations I’ve realized that my old technique of assessing them has not been as clear and fair as the one with the use of Rubrics. I used to make one on a sheet of paper and then make copies according to the number of students and write their names on them. It sounds simplistic and out of date doesn’t it?
I’ve noticed some of my mates in this course have already been using Rubrics and WebQuests, they’re lucky and I’m lucky as well I’ve enrolled in this course which is adding a lot to my teaching experience. I’m excited to apply these new tools as soon as possible and enjoy the great shift I’ve undergone.
Good luck
